It's always shocking to me, when I look at past blog posts here (or on my old Wordpress site) and realize how very bad I am at the whole steady, regular blogging thing! Mostly I find myself thinking, 'what in the world do I say? There's nothing going on in my life that interesting!'.
But there's a simple magic in communication, something that creates a rhythm that you can move to, something that ignites a fire & creates a positive flow. I (and my honey) live a very rural, isolated life, we mostly speak to each other and, being the two sides of the same coin we are, don't have to stretch much.
So, I'm stretching & taking a shot at working out the linguistic kinks....
I recently had a revelation about a source of inspiration for me. If you engage in any kind of artistry, you're familiar with the query, "Where do you get your inspiration?". That one's always stumped me; I reach, I think, I ponder...Nature, I say, Nature inspires me; but, I live smack-dab in the middle of Nature, so it's also just my day to day life, chores, challenges, etc. Okay, other folks work, especially luscious old, ethnic jewelry inspires me & that's true.
But a few days ago, on the completion of a new necklace with one of my crazy elaborate wire wrap focals, it dawned on me, as I sat staring at the focal, entranced by the intricacy of the layers of wrapping. These pieces, with their long, conical wire wrap structures, look to me like exotic little temples & I suddenly thought, 'Khajouraho, that's what they make me think of!' The temple groups of Khajouraho & other Indo-Aryan & Indo-Islamic architecture has always fascinated me, the incredible details, the exquisite way that all the myriad wealth of those details fit together, purely intoxicating!
If you're not familiar with this architecture, check out some of these links & enjoy the study!
And if you're interested in traveling & experiencing the wonder first hand...
